by Michael Zimmer

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) has announced that The Entertainers, the feature documentary about the people of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest, has won the festival’s 2012 Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary. Over 70 feature films were eligible for the Award, and this is the second consecutive Audience Award for The Entertainers, which also won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Wisconsin Film Festival.

The Audience Choice Award at MSPIFF is given to the documentary that is the highest ranked on Audience Choice ballots that are handed out at every film screening.

“We are thrilled and honored,” said director Michael Zimmer. “We’ve been so fortunate to have such great crowds, and the participation of our stars Jim Boston, Bill Edwards, and Ethan Uslan created a really special event.”

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Film Festival is one of the longest running and most well-respected film festivals in the country.
